Timgad: Reviews & Ratings
Best Algerian food experience you could ask for! Everything about this place is spot-on, from the delicious, authentic food to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service is outstanding; the staff are not only friendly but also incredibly helpful. If you're unsure about what to order or curious about portion sizes, the waiters go above and beyond to guide you and ensure you have the best possible experience. Highly recommended!
Wonderful restaurant with good and authentic food. The place is magnificently decorated as a real Moroccan house, but its narrow and small with no privacy. The main courses menu is great and quality, but starters are not good and not real moroccan. Good and attentive service. Nice and friendly staff and reception. Overall, I think the restaurant is more Algerian than Moroccan.
It is my second time here, I can guarantee that it is the best Moroccan restaurant in Paris. We had Harira soup, Tageen Lamb, Lamb shoulder, Basteela, and Koskos, all of the dishes are highly recommended. We were served by Ibrahim, he supported us so much, and his customer service was amazing. One important thing, is that you need to book before you come as the open at 7 PM and they are always full.

Located in the heart of Paris’s 17th arrondissement, Timgad brings the rich flavors of Moroccan and Algerian cuisine to life in a warm, inviting setting reminiscent of a traditional Moroccan home. This intimate restaurant at 21 Rue Brunel offers an authentic culinary journey characterized by bold spices and fresh ingredients, masterfully crafted into dishes that tell stories of North African heritage.
The menu is a refined showcase of classic Moroccan staples and North African specialties, with highlights that truly impress. The Pastilla, available with pigeon or chicken, is a delicate blend of savory and sweet, wrapped in crisped pastry that flakes with each bite. The Couscous Royal with lamb shank delivers a tender, aromatic experience that embodies the heart of Moroccan home cooking. For those seeking robust, smoky flavors, the Lamb Shoulder and Mechoui dishes stand out—slow-cooked with spices that penetrate deeply, creating unforgettable richness.
Complementing these main courses are traditional Moroccan starters such as Harira soup—a fragrant tomato and lentil broth perfect for whetting the appetite—and an array of Pâtisseries Orientales and Moroccan Sweets that offer a satisfying conclusion with their honeyed and nutty notes. The Thé À la Menthe is not just a beverage here but a ritual, a refreshing and aromatic mint tea that lingers beautifully on the palate.
What elevates Timgad beyond just its food is the exceptional service. Staff members like Ibrahim are not only attentive but genuinely invested in guiding guests through the menu, ensuring that even first-time diners feel confident and cared for. The portions are generous, reflecting a generosity that defines the culture behind the cuisine, though do note that the cozy, somewhat narrow space can feel tight at times, adding to the intimate charm but limiting privacy.
Reviews consistently praise Timgad for its authenticity and value, highlighting the balance between quality and affordability. It is clear that this restaurant is a celebration of North African culinary artistry, where every dish—from the tender Tajine de Poisson to the hearty Brique Au Thon—plays a role in crafting an immersive and memorable dining experience. For those looking to explore genuine Moroccan and Algerian flavors in Paris, Timgad delivers with passion, precision, and heartfelt hospitality.
